Martha Roby Announces “Better Way” Tour

(MONTGOMERY, AL) – As the historic midterm election draws near, Martha Roby, Republican nominee for Alabama’s Second Congressional District, will visit voters in each of the district’s 16 counties as part of her “Better Way” Tour, which launches Wednesday in Geneva and ends with an Election Eve rally Monday at Roby’s campaign headquarters in Montgomery.

Area voters will have the opportunity to meet Roby, discuss important issues and rally support for her campaign to unseat incumbent Democrat Bobby Bright and remove Nancy Pelosi and liberals from power in Congress. Events on the tour range from informal meet and greets over morning coffee to rallies with other Republican candidates.

“The enthusiasm for our campaign is overwhelming and in the closing week of this race, we will be in every corner of this district, speaking with voters, rallying support and spreading our conservative message in clear and direct terms,” said Roby.

"I stand for limited government, lower taxes and less regulation,” said Roby. “The voters of this district want a representative who is willing to fight for those beliefs—not someone who waffles around on the biggest issues of the day. It’s hard to know what Bobby Bright’s Democratic Party stands for besides more spending, more debt and more government.”

The tour will travel more than 1,600 miles include more than 26 events, with interviews scheduled to take place at events along the way.

“I encourage all voters to come out and join us along the way,” Roby said. “I’m looking forward to meeting voters in every county in the district, talking about my positions on the issues and asking them for their votes. We will out-work the Bright campaign in these final days.”

The “Better Way” Tour represents a strong finish for a campaign that has enjoyed swift momentum over the closing weeks of this hotly contested campaign.

In the final reporting period before the November election, Roby outraised incumbent Democrat Bobby Bright by more than three to one, an effort that put her over the $1 million mark in cash raised to date.

The campaign released a Public Opinion Strategies poll earlier this month showing Roby with a two-point lead after trailing eight points in July. In reaction to these developments, respected political pundit Charlie Cook moved the Second District contest from “Leans Democrat” to “Toss-Up” and the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza moved the race up to 37 from 43 on his weekly list of the 50 House races most likely to switch parties in November.

The Roby campaign has county chairs operating in all 16 counties in the district, an active Facebook page with more than 2,800 fans, and an engaged volunteer organization that will be active throughout the district in the closing weeks of the campaign.
