(MONTGOMERY, AL) – The Martha Roby for Congress campaign announced its Job Creators Coalition today, made up of 36 business owners from all corners of the district. These business leaders represent industries ranging from hospitality to construction to manufacturing.
“These men and women know what it takes to get our economy back on track,” said Martha Roby, Republican candidate for Alabama’s Second Congressional District. “They know that higher taxes and more spending won’t create job growth. It’s the private sector and businesses like their own that will create jobs and put the Second District back to work.”
“The politicians in Washington just don’t get it,” said Roby. “Under the Obama/Pelosi leadership team we’ve seen bailouts, stimulus, and billions of dollars of new spending, yet unemployment remains unacceptably high. Add to that job killing policies like health care reform and cap and trade, and you have a federal government that is standing in the way of growth. We can and must do better.”
Martha Roby has a record of standing up for small business owners on the Montgomery City Council, and has worked alongside the business community to make sure Montgomery is a clean, safe place to live and do business. On the Council she has fought against tax increases, provided solutions to cut wasteful spending, championed a sales tax holiday, and fought the business licensing fee increase.
Sieu Tang Wood of Wetumpka will serve as Chair of the Job Creators Coalition. Ms. Wood owns Tang’s Alterations and Designs, with six locations in the Montgomery area. She came to the United States from Laos in 1973 and has lived in the Montgomery area and grown her business for the past three decades. Ms. Wood is active in leadership roles in business groups including the NFIB and Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
