Martha Roby Emerges as Clear Winner in Debate

(DOTHAN, AL) – Monday evening, the Republcan runoff candidates for the Second Congressional District seat participated in a debate.  Martha Roby emerged as the clear winner, displaying a depth of knowledge on a variety of topics.

“We can change the direction America is going,” Roby said.  “We can put the Second District back to work.  We can send a message to Speaker Pelosi and President Obama that we have had enough of their big-spending, high-taxing ways.  The first step to doing this is to elect conservatives to Congress.”

“We need representatives who know how to say ‘No,’ but who can also propose alternative solutions that reduce spending and decrease the deficit,” said Roby.  “I have a proven record of fighting wasteful spending and increased taxes on the Montgomery City Council, but I also offered solutions to cut spending and save taxpayer dollars.  I am ready to go to Washington to continue the fight.”

“Martha Roby once again demonstrated that she is the best candidate to represent the Second District in Congress,” said Mike Hamilton, Roby’s campaign manager.  “Martha understands the issues and has a proven record of standing up and fighting against tax increases and wasteful spending.”

The event was sponsored by the Wiregrass Patriots and the Houston County Republican Party and was held on the campus of Troy University’s Dothan campus.  Ken Curtis, of WDHN-TV, served as the moderator.  Both candidates answered questions on a variety of topics ranging from education policy to issues of national security and defense.
