Martha Roby Outraises Incumbent Democrat Bright By More than 3-1 Margin

(MONTGOMERY, AL) – In the final reporting period before the November election, Republican nominee Martha Roby outraised incumbent Democrat Bobby Bright by more than three to one, a clear sign of strong momentum behind Roby’s campaign to win Alabama’s Second Congressional District.

Federal Election Commission filings for the period extending from October 1 to October 13 show that Roby raised $85,798 compared to only $24,880 for Bright.

The truncated reporting period comes in the wake of recently released numbers for the full third quarter, when Roby outpaced Bright $363,690 to $209,602.

“I’m overwhelmed by the continued generosity and support of all those that believe in this campaign. Their investment of time, energy, and financial support ensures that we will have all the resources we need to win this race over the next eleven days,” Roby said. “We’re driving hard to the finish line, and working every day to make sure our conservative message is heard in every corner of this district.”

“We need to send Washington a strong signal: the people of this district are tired of big government policies that mean more spending, more borrowing, and more job-killing regulation, and we’re willing to fight for our conservative principles,” Roby added.

The report also showed that Roby broke the $1 million mark in cash raised to date.

The strong fundraising numbers posted by Roby over the closing weeks of the campaign have cut Democrat Bright’s cash-on-hand advantage to 2 to 1 from its previous 6 to 1.
