Martha Roby to Bobby Bright: Stop the False Scare Tactics

(MONTGOMERY, AL) –   Today, Martha Roby released the following statement in response to Congressman Bobby Bright’s claims at his Town Hall in Prattville:

“Judging by his comments yesterday, it’s clear that Bobby Bright read and is following the August recess talking points sent to him by Nancy Pelosi. Resorting to scare tactics about Social Security has been a central part of the Democrat playbook for years. With the public rejecting their arrogant leadership and wasteful spending Democrats are again resorting to these tired attacks to scare seniors.”

“Let me be very clear: I do not support privatizing Social Security. I do not support increasing the retirement age. I do not support raising taxes or cutting benefits. We have made a promise to our seniors and we need to keep it. Fixing Social Security for current and future retirees is a serious challenge to our fiscal future and there is no magic bullet. It will take real political will on both sides of the aisle to address this issue, not the same old false attacks.”

“I would also note that the out of control spending from Bobby Bright’s Democrat party is a threat to the future of Social Security and the future of our country. The first step towards retirement security is to break Washington’s addiction to spending, create jobs, and get our economy back on track.”
