Martha Roby Wins WSFA Debate
(MONTGOMERY, AL) – Tonight at a debate held in the WSFA Channel 12 studio in Montgomery, Republican nominee Martha Roby showed Second District voters that she is the consistent, true conservative in the race. During the back and forth debate, Roby articulated her positions and vision for the future, while incumbent Democrat Bobby Bright left voters confused by his doubletalk.
During the debate, moderator Bob Howell asked a series of questions on a range of issues from jobs and spending to agriculture and education. The rapid fire format gave the voters a chance to see the two candidates think on their feet, and provided a stark contrast.
“Tonight we saw a clear contrast between Martha Roby, who knows what she believes and isn’t afraid to fight for her values, and Democrat Bobby Bright who only confused voters with his shifting positions and his Washington doublespeak,” said Mike Hamilton, Campaign Manager for Martha Roby. “The people of Alabama’s Second Congressional District can count on Martha Roby to vote her convictions, and not stick her finger in the air to see which way the political wind is blowing.”
On a whole host of issues including his vote for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, his refusal to repeal ObamaCare, and his party’s spending, Bright tried to backtrack and evade the question.
“The voters of the Second District are looking for a leader,” said Roby. “They are looking for a Representative in Congress who will fight for their values, not someone who tests the political waters before making decisions. I am very grateful to WSFA for giving the voters this opportunity to compare the candidates before they vote next week.”
