Roby Addresses Ozark Tea Party

(OZARK, AL) – Martha Roby, Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, said today at the Ozark Tea Party that she is fed up with Congress and their over-reaching, over-taxing and power-grabbing big government ways that now dominate Washington.

Roby was one of several featured speakers at the Tea Party where nearly 100 people attended.  Tea Parties, like the one in Ozark are happening all over the country today, culminating with this afternoon’s Taxpayer March on Washington on the West Front Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

“I’m running for Congress because I am appalled at the leadership in Washington,” said Roby.  “We are facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and our country is being led by people who don’t share our fundamental values.  Congress spends and spends money we don’t have…unemployment continues to rise…they’ve taken over the car companies and the banks…they are now threatening to take over our health care system and have already passed a new federal tax that will require us to pay more to the federal government just to keep our lights on.”

Roby said it’s time to put a stop to the excessive spending, the disregard for the taxpayer and the continued erosion of our freedoms, saying, “There is a better way.”

“I want to see the economy moving again…I want to help business create jobs…I want improvements in our private health care system…I want to find alternatives energy sources…but there is a better way to do it,” said Roby.  “A way that relies on the free market…not more government and higher taxes…a way that empowers the private sector…not the government.”

Roby believes the U.S. Constitution is America's foundation and the protection of our Faith, families and freedoms is fundamental.

“We can get America back on track, but the only way is to elect conservatives who’ll change our course, restore our liberty and preserve our freedom,” added Roby.

Roby announced in May that she would run for Congress in Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District and is the only Republican candidate in the race.
