Roby Raises Over $216,000 for Congressional Campaign

(MONTGOMERY, AL) – Reports filed with the Federal Election Commission today show Republican 2nd District candidate Martha Roby raised $216,510 from 542 contributors for her congressional campaign.  Today’s report also discloses she has $178,571 remaining cash-on-hand.

Roby announced last May that she would seek the 2nd Congressional District seat and is the only Republican candidate in the race.

The two-term Montgomery City Councilwoman said the campaign is going extremely well.  “The support this campaign is generating is amazing,” said Roby.   “Every day people are joining our effort because they know free-market solutions that empower the private sector, not bigger government, higher taxes and more debt is the way to get this country back on track.”

In the last few weeks, Roby has assembled an experienced team to lead her campaign and announced that Cory Adair, a veteran campaign worker, will direct the day-to-day operations of the campaign.  Yesterday, the campaign officially launched its new interactive website, www.MarthaRoby.com, to rave reviews.

The Roby campaign also said in the past quarter it recruited over 100 grassroots volunteers.

Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District is one of the most Republican districts in the country.  The Washington Post’s “The Fix” consistently ranks the district as one of the top 10 races to switch to Republican.  The Rothenberg Political Report and the Cook Political Report both rank the race as a “toss-up.”

In the 2008 election, U.S. Senator John McCain carried the 2nd District with 63 percent.
